Latest Updates for
3701 Pacific Place

Artesia Acquisition Company, LLC (part of the same firm as “InSite Property Group”) has applied to build an expanded project on the same space that they previously tried to move forward on without an EIR (Environmental Impact Report).

Now, because of our victory in court over their not having done an EIR, they are planning this project.

This page will serve as the central point for the latest information about 3701 Pacific Place.

Please note that the most recent information on this page is placed first.

Because Riverpark Coalition won their lawsuit on 3701 Pacific Place, the judge has ordered an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) be done for the warehouse / RV parking lot project at 3701 Pacific Place. The first step was a Notice of Preparation (NOP) in which the developer, states:

The Project site would be developed with a four-story, 206,756-sf self-storage building consisting of approximately 1,681 self-storage units on four levels.

This new project is 54,011 feet larger and another story higher than the previous proposed project.

During the Scoping meeting on June 21, many citizens commented on environmental issues which should be covered in the EIR being prepared for this new project. In addition, Riverpark Coalition has submitted a letter with our suggestions to Planning staffer, Amy Harbin on July 7, 2023.

The next step will be a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), on which the public can comment for 30 days. The City must respond to every comment before getting Planning Commission and Council approval. Please stay tuned.

Riverpark Coalition’s NOP Review Team has been hard at work, researching and compiling information about the NOP, points that we feel are important to share with the community as well as point out to the lead agency, The City of Long Beach, where changes are needed.

The City of Long Beach sent out a “Notice Of Preparation” (NOP) for this project  ” … to notify potential Responsible Agencies (Agencies) that the Lead Agency, the City of Long Beach (City), will prepare an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed Pacific Place Project (Project) and to solicit comments and suggestions regarding (1) the scope and content of the EIR and (2) the environmental issues and alternatives to be addressed in the EIR (California Environmental Quality Act [CEQA] Guidelines Section 15082). This NOP also provides notice to interested parties, organizations, and individuals of the preparation of the EIR and requests comments on the scope and contents of the environmental document.”
